Educator.
Born at Eston, Saskatchewan on 15 September 1933, one of six children of Loyd Robert Groff (1906-1982) and Ethel Harriet Trotter (1907-2000), he was raised on the family farm near Mather until 1952 when his family moved to the Winnipeg, living at 1212 Warsaw Avenue.
His teaching career became in 1952 when taught on permit at Chesterville School (1952-1953) after which he attended the Manitoba Normal School (1953-1954). He then taught at Reston School (1954-1955) and Boissevain School (1955-1956). Returning to Winnipeg, he taught at Edmund Partridge School (1956-?) and Garden City Collegiate (?-?) while attending night school to complete a degree in Education. He moved to the St. James Assiniboia School Division when he was Vice-Principal of Athlone School (1969-1973) and Principal of Birchwood School (1973-1977), Phoenix School (1977-1982), Bedson School (1982-1985), and Linwood School (1986-1990). He retired in 1990.
In 1957, he met Linda Claire Wrixon at a dance in Starbuck and they were married on 11 July 1959 at the St. Stephen's-Broadway United Church. They had two sons.
He died at Winnipeg on 6 April 2023.
