Memorable Manitobans: Bessie Katherine McLean (1903-1981)

Educator.

Born at Hamiota on 4 September 1903, daughter of Martha Kadey (1868-) and Joseph McLean (1858-?), she attended Hamiota School and took teacher training. She taught at Elkhorn School (1927-1928), Reston School (1930s), near Selkirk (?-?) and Roblin (?-?), and at Pine Falls School (1936-1943; Principal 1941-1943), and Grandin School (1943). She was a Vice-Principal (?-?) in West Kildonan. In retirement, she lived at 8E-300 Roslyn Road in Winnipeg. She died at the Victoria General Hospital on 12 April 1981.
