Educator.
Born at Austin on 1 July 1899, daughter of Ella Campbell and Frank Avery, she attended Austin School and graduated from Brandon College (BA, 1918). Her career in education spanned several locations in Saskatchewan, including Maple Creek (1919-1920), Weyburn College (1923-?), and Weyburn Collegiate Institute (1925-?), in Ontario at Dryden (?-?), and in her native province, including as Principal of Green Ridge School (1920-1921) and Austin School (1921-1923), as well as teacher at Crystal City School (1932-1933), Carman School (1933-1934), in the Winnipeg School District at St. John’s High School (1936-1949), and at Thompson (?-?).
While in Winnipeg, she was Principal of the First Baptist Church Sunday School, Secretary of both John Black Memorial United Church and St. Andrew’s Elgin Avenue United Church, and Secretary-Treasurer (1942-1943) of the Winnipeg Teachers’ Association.
She died at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg on 18 February 1978 and was buried in the St. John’s Anglican Cemetery.
