Physician.
Born at St. John, New Brunswick on 26 February 1907, only son of Walter Harley Trueman and Lillian E. Wade (1876-1951), he came with his family to Winnipeg in 1908. He attended Kelvin High School and the University of Manitoba, receiving BA (1928) and MD (1931) degrees from the latter. He interned at the Winnipeg General Hospital (1933-1935) then received a Fellowship in General Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota (1935-1939) and a MSc in Surgery from the University of Minnesota (1939).
He returned to Winnipeg to be an Associate Surgeon at the Winnipeg General Hospital and Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Manitoba. He joined the Winnipeg Clinic in 1944 with a specialty in General Surgery. He chaired the Clinic’s executive council and was President of the Manitoba Medical Association (1961-1962) and Winnipeg Medical Society (1951-1952). He was made a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (1952) and received a Distinguished Service Award from the Manitoba Medical Association (1978).
He and wife Inez Geneva Gandrud had a daughter and three sons.
He died at the Health Sciences Centre on 21 December 1977 and was buried in the St. John’s Cathedral Cemetery. His honorary pallbearers were Paul Henrik Thorbjorn Thorlakson, Dr. J. E. Isaac, Murray McLandress, Dr. G. L. Adamson, Dr. T. E. Holland, Charles Burton Stewart, and William Bissett Ewart. He is commemorated by the Kenneth R. Trueman Memorial Trust Fund at The Winnipeg Foundation.
