Educator, administrator.
Born at Woodrow, Saskatchewan on 20 July 1931, son of Andrew Lautermilch and Erna Manske, his first 13 years were spent on the family farm before leaving to continue his education at Caronport, Saskatchewan. He then attended United College and the University of Waterloo, receiving a BA degree in Education and a BA degree in Theology.
His 35-year teaching career was spent in the St. James School Division. He taught at St. James Collegiate (1963-1964) and served as Vice-Principal of Deer Lodge School (1965-1966) and Silver Heights Collegiate (1967-1969), and Principal of Assiniboine School (1969-1970), Linwood School (1970-1972), Silver Heights Collegiate (1972-1979), and Westwood Collegiate (1979-1986). He retired in 1986.
He was married twice, first on 4 August 1953 to Marion Joyce Remple (1930-2020) of Roland at the Grant Memorial Baptist Church in Winnipeg. They were divorced in December 1970. The following year, he married Nancy Barbara Cromb in Winnipeg and they had two daughters. A self-taught musician, he joined four friends in forming The Spokesman Quartet that spent ten years singing Gospel music. His hobbies included golf, carpentry, skiing, working with stained glass, and traveling.
He died at Winnipeg on 22 September 2025.
