Educator.
Born in England on 10 February 1872, daughter of Jane Walsh (1849-?), she immigrated with her family to Canada in 1892 and settled at Winnipeg. She attended the Winnipeg Collegiate Institute and Central Normal School, earned a BA degree from the University of Manitoba, and obtained her first class diploma and professional first class certificates in 1890. As a teacher in the Winnipeg School Division, she worked at Carlton School (1891-1894) and Fort Rouge School where she taught (1899-1900) and was Principal (1900-1901) before returning to the classroom at the Winnipeg Collegiate Institute (1901-1903). She taught Sunday School at the Young Methodist Church and was Treasurer for the YWCA (1903). She resigned her teaching position in July 1903 and, on 28 March 1904, she married John Gould (1870-1952) and moved to British Columbia where they had three children: Clara Walters Heavysege Gould (1904-1980), Charles Ernest Groves Gould (1908-1990), and John Groves Gould (1912-2002). She died at Vancouver, British Columbia on 4 March 1944.
