Lawyer.
Born at Winnipeg in 1932, son of John Edward Yarnell (1888-1967) and Marguerite Robertson (1895-1989), he graduated from Kelvin High School in 1949 then attended the University of Manitoba, receiving a Law degree in 1955. He was admitted to the Manitoba Bar in 1956. He served for over 50 years as a member of the law firm Fillmore and Riley and was made a Queen's Counsel in 1978.
On 13 July 1964, he married Shelagh Joan McCulley (daughter of Robert McCulley) and they had a daughter and two sons. He served on the boards of the Grace Hospital, Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, and Reh-Fit Centre. He chaired the Board of Trustees of the Westminster United Church Foundation and the Salvation Army Advisory Board. He was a member of the St. Charles Country Club for over 50 years.
He died at Winnipeg on 29 September 2024.
