Alexander Smaluk

Educator.
Born at Majków, Poland on 11 November 1920, son of immigrants Arseny Smaluk (1892-1961) and Efrosinia “Frances” Smaluk (1890-1987), he acquired BA, BEd, and MEd degrees from the University of Manitoba. During the Second World War he served as an instructor in the Royal Canadian Air Force, later teaching at Arbroath School (?-?), Stuartburn School (1945-1946), Dauphin Collegiate (?-?), Lord Nelson School (1952-1955), Andrew Mynarski School (1955-1956), and the Winnipeg Technical Vocational School (1956-1960). He concluded his teaching career as the Principal of River East Collegiate (1960-1981). He died at Ottawa, Ontario on 8 November 2016 and was buried in the National Military Cemetery.
