James William Ross Rennie

Physician and surgeon.
Born at Portage la Prairie on 3 June 1911, eldest son of Dr. W. H. Rennie and Marian Lillie Ross, he was educated at Portage la Prairie and the Manitoba Medical College. He completed his medical education at Edinburgh, Scotland and at the Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Centre in New York City. In 1943, he returned to Winnipeg to practice medicine.
He was a founding partner of the Manitoba Clinic (1946) and was an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Manitoba and at the Health Sciences Centre until retirement in 1978.
In 1939, he married Margaret Isabel Hickling (1909-1997) of Portage la Prairie in England and they had two sons, both of whom became doctors. He was a member of St. George's Anglican Church.
He died at his Winnipeg home, 386 Brock Street, on 27 April 1981 and was buried in the Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
