Born at Leeds, England on 19 January 1842, he came to Canada in 1861 and to Winnipeg in 1888. He and wife Julia Ann Powell (1850-1920) lived at 471 Spence Street. They had no children. He died at Middlechurch Home on 10 September 1937 and was buried with his wife in the Brookside Cemetery.
