Memorable Manitobans: Irvin Alexander Plumm (1889-1965)

Musician.

Born at Nikolaev, Russia on 4 July 1889, he came to Canada and was a cellist with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and conducted orchestras at the Fort Garry Hotel, Jasper Park Lodge, and Royal Alexandra Hotel. On 24 September 1932, he married Dorothy Gertrude Hooper (1903-1978) at Winnipeg. They had no children and lived in Apt. 402 - 59 Wilmot Place. He was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist. He died at the Winnipeg General Hospital on 29 March 1965 and was buried in the Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
