Memorable Manitobans: Hannes Pétursson (1881-1961)Real estate agent, building contractor. Born in Iceland in April 1881, he came to Canada in 1904 and to Winnipeg in 1911. He worked as a building contractor with his brothers Olafur Pétursson and Rögnvaldur Pétursson, and as a real estate agent until retirement in 1956. He and wife Tilly (1887-?) had a daughter, ? Petursson (wife of Robert Louis Stephenson), two foster sons, and a foster daughter. The family lived at 694 Mulvey (1911) and 285 Bartlett Avenue (1961). He died at the Winnipeg General Hospital on 9 June 1961. Some of his construction works in Manitoba included:
