Memorable Manitobans: Alexander Moad (1864-1937)

Farmer.

Born in Tae Township, Ontario on 12 December 1864, son of John and Jane Moad, he worked on the family farm until the age of 27 when he took up his own farm in the vicinity of Minnedosa. On 19 April 1892, he married Jennie Govenlock (?-1909) at Minnedosa. They had four daughters: Flossie Jane Moad (1893-?, wife of Thomas Holder), Ida Violet Moad (1896-?), Hazel Isabella Moad (1901-?), and Gladys Luella Moad (1904-?). After his wife's death, he married Louisa McGowan (?-?) on 16 February 1910. He was a member of the Methodist church and the Ancient Order of United Workmen. He died at Gladstone on 3 February 1937.
