James Currie McMillan

Radiologist.
Born at Minto on 1 May 1883, son of Scottish immigrants James McMillan and Jeanie Robertson, he attended Brandon College, Manitoba College, and Manitoba Medical College, graduating in 1907. He worked in the X-ray Department at the Winnipeg General Hospital.
During the First World War, he served with the 11th Field Ambulance then, after his military discharge, he studied Radiology in New York. He returned to Winnipeg and became Director of the Department of Radiology at the Winnipeg General Hospital, serving in the position for 30 years. He was a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, Royal College of Physicians (Canada), and Canadian Association of Radiologists. He was a life member of the Winnipeg Medical Society and a President of the Manitoba Medical Association (1933-1934). He retired in 1948.
On 2 April 1919, he married Ruby Florence Lawler (1885-1973, daughter of Patrick Lawler) at St. Boniface and they had a son, James Currie McMillan.
He died at Vancouver, British Columbia on 21 May 1950 and was buried at Burnaby, British Columbia.
