Business executive.
Born at Winnipeg on 27 May 1954 to Lorna Viola Drennar (1922-2008) and Orville Bjorne Haflidson Hanson (1915-2001), he grew up in the St. James community, attended Linwood School, and later graduated from the University of Manitoba.
He began a career in the advertising industry at Ogilvy and Mather in Toronto, Ontario. After three years, he returned to Winnipeg to accept a position at Palmer Jarvis Advertising then, in 1983, moved to CKY-TV as an Advertising Sales Account Executive. He was appointed to progressively more senior positions at the station, from Retail Sales Manager to General Sales Manager, was promoted to Vice-President, and eventually became the General Manager of CTV Winnipeg in 2002. He enjoyed his job, primarily because of the staff he worked with, and the people he got to know through his work.
Within his career, he was involved with various broadcast associations, boards, and committees. His volunteer service to the community included serving on the Board of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Winnipeg, and as Vice-Chair of the Board of the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation. He had a deep appreciation of music and spent many hours either listening to his favourite artists or playing his guitar. He also enjoyed golfing with his friends at Breezy Bend, and shortly before his death renewed his passion for photography. With his wife Cathy he had three children.
He died at Winnipeg on 16 May 2012.
