Educator.
Born at Griswold on 15 April 1909, son of William Daniel Griggs (1873-1959) and Elizabeth Maud May (1871-1942), he attended Wesley College and graduated from the University of Manitoba (BA, 1930). He worked as a substitue teacher at 18 schools across Winnipeg. On 18 September 1929, he married Pearl Marguerite Broad (1908-1995) at Arden. They had five children: Earl Griggs, Gordon Griggs, Louise Griggs (wife of Anthony Doerksen), Bill Griggs, and Eileen Griggs (wife of Eileen Raisbeck), and moved to Winnipeg Beach. There, he was Principal of Winnipeg Beach School (1932-1934), taught at McMaster School (1936-1937), and was Principal of Woodnorth School (1937). They later returned to his native Griswold where he farmed until formal retirement. He died at Elkhorn on 7 July 1996 and was buried in the Griswold Cemetery.
