Broadcasting technician.
Born at Gunton in 1925, one of two sons of James Gibson (?-1986) and Queenie Irvine (1893-1983), his family moved to Winnipeg and he attended Wolseley School, Isaac Brock School, and Gordon Bell High School.
He began working in the Accessories Overhaul Department at Standard Aero Engine and later moved to CKY Radio (predecessor to CBC Manitoba). Transferred to Toronto in 1951, he was part of a team that launched CBC Television. He returned to Winnipeg in 1954 and played a key role in the installation and launch of CBWT (CBC Radio), serving as the Director of Technical Operations until retirement in 1983.
On 21 May 1948, he married D. Joane Aitken (1927-2000) and they adopted a son in 1956. The family lived in Fort Garry and later Charleswood. In 1957, they bought a cottage at Victoria Beach and moved to it after retirement, returning to Winnipeg in his later life.
He died at the St. Boniface Hospital on 2 March 2024.
