Educator.
Born at Gretna on 23 April 1927, son of Aaron Friesen and Katherine Loewen, he moved to Winnipeg to pursue his education, receiving BA, BEd, and MEd degrees from the University of Manitoba. He served in the Fort Garry Horse armoured regiment and attended the Canadian Officers Training Corps.
His career in education included teaching in the St. James-Assiniboia School Division at St. James Collegiate (1955-1956) and serving as Vice-Principal at St. James Collegiate (1963-1965), Westwood Collegiate (1981-1984), and Brooklands School (1984-1986), and Principal at Deer Lodge Junior High School (1965-1966) and St. James Collegiate (1966-1975, 1978-1981).
On 19 August 1954, he married Dorothy “Bunny” Slobodianek and they had two sons and a daughter. He was a member of Silver Heights United Church.
He died at Winnipeg on 2 November 2024.
