Herold Leonhard Driedger

Educator, MLA (1988-1990).
Born on 28 March 1942, eldest child of Abraham Driedger and Lenchen “Helen” Braun, he was raised in Grunthal. He moved to Winnipeg where he received BA and MA degrees then taught Geography and Social Studies for 30 years at Sisler High School, Gordon Bell High School, and General Wolfe School.
After an unsuccessful attempt at election to the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba in the 1986 general election, as a Manitoba Progressive candidate in the Radisson constituency, he was elected as a Liberal for the Niakwa constituency in the 1988 election. He was unsuccessful in his bid for re-election in the 1990 election in the newly created Seine River constituency.
He married piano teacher Lorraine Boivin (1936-2014) and they had two daughters. He sang barbershop chorus with the group Winnipeg Golden CHordsmen (later River City Sound) from 1995 to his death.
He died at Winnipeg on 1 October 2024.
