Educator.
Born at Winnipeg on 12 June 1892, one of two children of Laura Isabelle Dean Moore (1870-1949) and William Brunt Cheshire (1860-1945), she attended Winnipeg public schools and St. John’s College, graduating with a BA degree. Her teaching career started in West Kildonan at John H. Gunn School (c1918) and continued at Centennial School. Moving to the Winnipeg School Division, she taught at several schools, including Ralph Brown School (1927-1928) until retiring from Lord Selkirk School (1928-1952). She was a member of the St. John’s Cathedral Choir for 40 years and was for some years the Cathedral Secretary. In recognition of her long service as a schoolteacher, in 1970 she received a Manitoba Centennial Medal from the Manitoba Historical Society. She died at Winnipeg on 17 August 1989 and was buried in the St. John’s Cathedral Cemetery.
