Memorable Manitobans: Omar Ernest Campbell (1868-1936)


Born on 20 November 1868, he earned a doctoral degree and taught in rural Manitoba as the Principal of Lundar School (1923-1924), Rathwell School (1924-1925), Clearwater School (1925-1926), and St. Andrews School No. 2 (1926-1934). He and his Illinois-born wife Mabel Glenn Campbell (1875-1946) had one daughter, Helen Campbell (?-?, wife of Mr. Gordon) and resided in the Winnipeg region around 1923, later at 209 Margaret Avenue in West Kildonan. He died at Ebor on 10 March 1936 and was buried in the Old Kildonan Cemetery.
