Physician.
Born at Winnipeg in 1927, son of Albert Clifford Abbott and Mary Eileen Bulman, he attended Gordon Bell High School and the University of Manitoba (BA 1949). He studied medicine at the University of Ottawa (1950-1953) and finished his final year at the Manitoba Medical School, graduating from the University of Manitoba in 1955. He completed a residency in general surgery at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton. He completed a Fellowship in Urology at the Cleveland Clinic then returned to Winnipeg in 1962 where he practiced Urology at the Abbott Clinic.
He was President of the Manitoba Medical Association (1975-1976). He was made a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons (1965), American College of Surgeons (1967), and Royal College of Surgeons (1972). For six weeks in 1968, he was a consulting urologist with CARE Medico in Malaysis. He was Chief of the Urology Section at Grace Hospital (1975-1992) and also worked at the St. Boniface Hospital and Deer Lodge Centre.
In 1957, he married nurse Carole Ann Colclough (1935-2024) at Banff, Alberta and they had three children.
He died at the Deer Lodge Centre on 2 February 1994.
