Memorable Manitobans: Gordon Dale Yeo (1941-2022)
Educator, community activist. Born at Winnipeg on 24 November 1941, son of Frank Davey Yeo (1905-1969) and Lillian Evelyn Jack Yeo (1905-2001), he attended Mulvey School, Gordon Bell High School, United College, and the University of Manitoba, studying history, English, and education at the latter two institutions. His 35-year teaching career began in 1962 when he moved to Roblin and taught at Goose Lake School, also serving as its Vice-Principal. In 1961, he married Rosemarie Thiele (1941-2020) of Dauphin and they had five children. He was active in the Roblin Credit Union, Roblin and District Community Foundation (2004-2007, 2010-2016), Roblin Lions Club, Trans-Canada Trail, Meals on Wheels, Roblin Centennial Committee, and was Deputy Mayor of Roblin.
