Memorable Manitobans: John T. Wherrett (1932-2011)

Educator.

Born on the family farm near Shoal Lake in 1932, he graduated from the Winnipeg Normal School in 1951 then taught in the city for three years. He was Principal of the Killarney Elementary School from 1951 to 1954 before returning to Winnipeg and completing his teaching career in the Assiniboine South School Division. From 1956 to 1987, he was successively Principal of Royal School, Dieppe School, and Westgrove School. He retired in 1987. He died at Winnipeg on 18 December 2011.
