Educator.
Born at Winnipeg on 13 May 1952 to Mary Antoniw (1930-2022) and Frederick Stoyko (1922-2013), he earned BA, BEd, and MEd degrees at the University of Manitoba.
He taught at Andrew Mynarski VC School (?-?), Sisler High School (?-?), and Kelvin High School (?-?). His humour and imagination made him an extraordinary teacher, guiding his students and children to be the best they could be. In 2003, he received the Winnipeg Teachers’ Association Distinguished Service Award. In 2005, he was elected WTA Vice-President and became President in 2007. Through the years, he was involved in many other projects, directing 14 drama performances, serving on a variety of committees, running for school trustee, advocating for property owners’ issues in his community, and supporting local artists.
With his wife Judy Mandrick he had two children. He was involved with St. Anne’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, and enjoyed landscaping, needlepoint, and spending time at the family summer cottage.
He died at Winnipeg on 16 November 2007 and was buried in the Holy Family Cemetery.
