Born at Svignaskaro, Borgarfiroi, Iceland on 17 February 1890, son of Sigurdur Sigurdson, he came to Canada with his parents in 1901. During the First World War, he served with the 78th Battalion in France, being discharged in 1919 and returning to Winnipeg. As of 1929, having worked as a bricklayer, he became a general contractor, building apartment blocks, public schools, post offices, and RCMP depots around Manitoba until retirement in 1956.
On 4 June 1937, he married Maude Francis Wilding (1903-1968) at Winnipeg and they had four children: Randver Sigurdson, June Sigurdson (wife of L. Miclesh), Jacqueline Sigurdson (wife of Melvin T. Merrells), and John Sigurdson (?-1946). He was a member of the Winnipeg Contract Bridge Club and St. George's Club.
He died at the Winnipeg General Hospital on 28 December 1963 and was buried in the Brookside Cemetery.
