Joseph Myrs Ptashynski

Educator.
Born at Chatfield on 7 February 1943, son of Ukrainian immigrants James Harold “Jim” Ptashynski (1895-1975) and Anastasia Sobotyk (1908-?), he attended the Manitoba Teachers’ College and later completed BA and BEd degrees at the University of Manitoba. He was taught at Eddystone School (?-?) and Sandy Hook School (?-?), and was the teaching Principal of Springfield School (1966-1969) before moving to Arthur Day Junior High School (1970-1982). He was the head of English and History at Murdoch Mackay Collegiate until retirement in 1999. He and wife Shirley had two children. He died at the St. Boniface Hospital on 28 April 2024.
