Memorable Manitobans: Flora Isabell [Isabelle] “Flo” Pollock (1902-1981)
Born in the Rural Municipality of Louise on 7 March 1902, daughter of Catherine Shaw (1862-1945) and John Pollock (1851-1944), she grew up at Manitou and attended Manitou School and Manitou Normal School. Her career included teaching at St. Charles School (1923-1927; Principal 1924-1927) before spending many years at Assiniboine School prior to retirement. She was a member of the Westminster United Church and Professional and Business Women's Club. Later in life, she resided at 555 River Avenue in Winnipeg. She died unmarried at the Health Sciences Centre on 22 February 1981 and her cremains were interred in the Brookside Cemetery.
