Memorable Manitobans: James Allan Muirhead (1879-?)Real estate and investment broker. Born at Dumfries, Scotland in 1879, son of Hugh Muirhead and Mary Allan, he had his early education at Dumfries then studied law at the Wallace Hall Academy. He worked at the Dumfries courthouse for several years before emigrating to Canada in 1903 and settling at Winnipeg. He went into the real estate business, specializing in city properties.
