Memorable Manitobans: Michael Karl Koryluk (1944-2020)

Educator, cleric.

Born at Winnipeg on 9 August 1944, son of Anna (Amy) and Michael Koryluk, he was educated by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary and Oblates of Mary Immaculate. He received an education degree from the University of Manitoba then was a teacher in the Assiniboine South School Division for seven years, including at Dieppe School (c1973). He took religious instruction starting in 1974 and, on 25 April 1979, was ordained as a Roman Catholic priest by George Flahiff. He served at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, St. Mark's Roman Catholic Church, St. John Brebeuf Roman Catholic Church, St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cathedral (2004-2010), and St. Paul's College (University of Manitoba). He died at Winnipeg on 8 August 2020.
