James Irvine

Realtor.
Born at Dalkeith, Ontario in 1867, son of Duncan Irvine and Elizabeth Stewart, he worked on the family farm until the age of 17, then went into cheese and butter making. In 1902, he came to Winnipeg and began working as a sales agent with the Manitoba Land and Investment Company. Two years later, he formed his own business, James Irvine and Company, specializing in farm land. His office was located at 513-515 McIntyre Building, Winnipeg. He was also Vice-President of the Portage la Prairie Development Company. On 17 December 1919, he married Fannie Estella Hobbs (?-1954) at Winnipeg. They had no children. At the time of his death, they lived in the Royal Albert Hotel. He died at the King Edward Hospital on 5 January 1950 and was buried in the Brookside Cemetery.
