Memorable Manitobans: Eric V. Hjartarson (c1917-1970)

Educator.

He began working as a school teacher in 1936 and, during the Second World War, he served with the Royal Canadian Air Force. Returning from military duty, he taught in the Winnipeg School Division, serving at Sir William Osler School (1956-1959). He was the Principal of Alexandra School (1966-1969) and Clifton School (1969-1970). He died suddenly at the Winnipeg General Hospital on 18 January 1970 and was survived by a wife and two children.
