Memorable Manitobans: Edward Elmore Glasgow (1910-1977)

Businessman.

Born at Winnipeg on 29 August 1910, son of Frank William Glasgow and Edith Bodwell Beeton (1884-1961), he attended St. John’s College and the University of Manitoba, after which he joined Peter D. Curry in business, rising to partnership. On Curry’s retirement, he purchased the business and renamed it Edward Glasgow and Company. He was an active member of the Winnipeg Stock Exchange and served as its President (1967-1969). On 29 April 1936, he married Grace Alberta Simonite (1910-1988), daughter of Charles E. Simonite, at Winnipeg and they had two sons. He was a member of the St. Charles Country Club and Carleton Club. He died at Winnipeg on 25 October 1977.
