Dorothy Harriet Mabel East

Educator.
Born at Winnipeg on 27 May 1914, one of three children and the only daughter of Robert James East (1876-1967) and Beatrice Mabel Wilkinson (1886-1977), she attained BA (1936, Honours), BEd (1956), and MEd (1959) degrees from the University of Manitoba. She taught at Balmoral School (1937-1938). Her teaching career included more than three decades with the Winnipeg School Division, at Grosvenor School (1941-1943), Luxton School (1943-1944), Lord Roberts School (1944-1955), Churchill High School (1955-1956), after which she was the Vice-Principal at Greenway School (1956-1959) and Principal of Sir William Osler School (1959-1974). She retired in June 1974 and died at Winnipeg on 13 July 1984.
