Born at Crookston, Minnesota on 23 June 1909, one of six children of Alexander Dupuis (1879-1953) and Rose Dupuis (1883-1948), he moved with his family to Saskatchewan in 1912 and to Winnipeg in 1930, after his marriage to Veronica Wagner (1911-2007). He worked with his father for many years until forming his own company, R. J. Dupuis Construction, in 1940. He operated it until his retirement in 1971 at which time his son Gordon Dupuis took over the company. He was a member of the Elks, Granite Curling Club, and Pembina Curling Club. Later in life, he became an avid golfer. For 41 years, his summers were spent at the family cabin on Caddy Lake. He died at the Misericordia Hospital on 4 March 1988.
