Educator, municipal official.
Born at Winnipeg on 20 November 1946, son of John Henry Brooks and Joyce Isabelle Bulmer, he became an educator and worked over 30 years in the River East School Division. His career included work as a teacher at Hampstead School (1960s-1970s) and Prince Edward School (1970s), as Vice-Principal at Bertrun E. Glavin School (1981-1987), and as Principal of Prince Edward School (1989-1990), Hampstead School (1990-1995), and Neil Campbell School (1995-2000).
Retired by 2003, he later resided at Gimli, where he spearheaded the 2003-2004 renovation of the Gimli Recreation Centre which saw the opening of a community gym at the site. During the 2000s, he was elected to Town Council in Gimli and served as Deputy Mayor.
He was first married on 23 August 1969 to Joyce Arlene McDonald (1948-2010) at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church in East Kildonan. They resided in the Windsor Park neighbourhood of St. Boniface and had three sons. The couple divorced in 1986 and he later married Christine Shonda.
He died at Gimli on 27 August 2014 and his cremains were interred in the Gimli Cemetery.
