Memorable Manitobans: Beatrice Bedard [Sister Elizabeth St. Joseph] (c1893-1983)Nun, educator. Born at Pointe Claire, Quebec, she came to Manitoba as a girl and was educated at St. Joseph’s Academy and the University of Manitoba. She then entered the Order of the Holy Names and took her vows in August 1918. She taught at St. Ignatius School and St. Mary’s Academy. She was the Principal of St. Jean Baptiste School (1921-1933, 1961-1963) and Ste. Agathe School (1954-1959). She died at Winnipeg on 17 February 1983 and was buried in St. Boniface Cemetery.
