Physician.
Born at Winnipeg on 5 February 1914, daughter of Ukrainian immigrants Anna Juba and John Hawirko, in the 1930s she was admitted to the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Manitoba. She graduated in 1937 as one of the first women of Ukrainian descent to become a medical doctor in Canada. She practiced for over 50 years under her maiden name, first at Moose Jaw (Saskatchewan) and later at Edmonton (Alberta). She returned to Winnipeg in 1948 and continued her medical practice for women until retirement in 1989.
In 1951, she married Anthony John “Tony” Yaremovich (1913-1993) and they had a daughter. She was a member of the Alpha Omega sorority and the Quota Club. She died at Winnipeg on 4 October 2008 and was buried in the All Saints Cemetery.
