Memorable Manitobans: Elias A. Weinberg (1909-1959)Architect, municipal official. Born in New York City in 1909, he came to Winnipeg in 1916. He graduated with an Architecture degree from the University of Manitoba then practiced as an architect with Myer Kurnarsky in the firm of Kurnarsky and Weinberg. He served as a municipal councillor in West Kildonan for seven years and was a member of the Masons and Hebrew Fraternal Lodge. He died suddenly at his home, 453 Perth Avenue, on 25 December 1959 and was buried in the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery. He was survived by a wife and two daughters.
