Community activist.
Born at Transcona on 21 September 1923 to Marina “Mary” Prysiak (1900-1980) and Michael Comishen (1893-1962), she married Peter Warrenchuk (1918-2013) on 23 June 1946 and they went on to have three children.
She devoted her life to the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League. From 1954 up to the week of her death, her opinions were greatly valued. During that time, she served as the President of St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Church and St. Basil Ukrainian Catholic Church, as well as serving two terms as the Regional President. She was also the Archeparchal (provincial) President and sat on the National Executive. For her work on a five-week workshop for catechism instructors, she was made an honorary life member of the Women’s League and was honoured with a letter from the Pope. Her involvement with the church lasted until her final days, as she was asked to be a guest speaker at the 50th anniversary of the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League in May 2007.
She was an accomplished and generous cook, and made perfectly sewn outfits for friends and family. Another pastime she enjoyed was playing the VLTs at the Assiniboia Downs racetrack. She always said, “I don't drink or smoke, so I can spend my money on the slots.” She loved to travel, and with her husband toured through the United States and Europe, and connected with long-lost relatives on a trip to Ukraine.
She died at Winnipeg on 5 June 2007 and was buried in the Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
