Cleric.
Born at Kotree, India on 18 August 1866, son of Rev. William Walton and Mary McNeil, his father entered the ministry in September 1887 and was ordained a priest at Winnipeg in 1888. He was stationed at Clearwater and subsequently at Morden where he was Rural Dean and Rector of St. Thomas Episcopal Church until succeeded by his son in November 1891.
Thomas Walton was educated at Allesley Park College in England and later attended King’s College in London, England. In 1881, he came to Ontario and, in 1885, moved to Manitoba where, two years later, he entered St. John’s College, graduating with an Arts degree in 1891. He served Anglican parishes in Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, and North Dakota before coming to St. John’s Anglican Church at Pilot Mound in 1904. He then went to St. George’s Anglican Church at Birtle, leaving there in 1918 to return to Pilot Mound where he resided until his death.
On 6 November 1891, he married Louisa J. Wilson (1868-1947) of Marringhurst. They had three children: Percy Austin McNeil Walton (1892-1976), John William Morris Walton (1896-1942), and Mary Elizabeth Walton (1906-1969, wife of Henry Arthur Gibbs). He served as Secretary-Treasurer for the Village of Pilot Mound for over 20 years (1928-1949).
He died at Brandon on 30 September 1956 and was buried in the Pilot Mound Cemetery.
