Grain merchant.
Born at Shedfield, Hampshire, England on 20 January 1923, he served in Bomber Command in the Royal Air Force (1942-1946), rising to the rank of Squadron Leader. While on leave during training in Manitoba, he met his future wife, Ruth Harrington Hunter (?-2017). They corresponded for over five years until he was discharged from the military. He returned to Winnipeg and they married in 1947, eventually having four children.
He attended the University of Manitoba, graduating in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and joined the grain industry with United Grain Growers (UGG). He was a board member of the Banff Institute of Advanced Management and St. Boniface Hospital, and chaired the Winnipeg Commodity Exchange (1975-1976). He was President of the Grain Elevator and Processing Society (1974). After 31 years with UGG, he operated his own firm, Blackbrook Services until retirement.
He was a lifetime member of the Wartime Pilots Association (President, 1994). In recognition of his community service, he received a City of Winnipeg Community Service Award (1974) and a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012).
He died at Winnipeg on 12 February 2015.
