Memorable Manitobans: William Stewart (1877-?)Farmer. Born in Wellington County, Ontario on 2 July 1877, son of Henry Stewart and Helen McLaughlin Swan, brother of Henry Stewart, the family moved to Manitoba in March 1896 and settled on a farm near Virden. He worked on the family farm until 1899 when he acquired a farm of his own nearby. On 25 October 1905, he married Edith Carscadden. They had a daughter, Frieda A. M. Stewart.
