Memorable Manitobans: Robert “Bob” Sochasky (1950-2025)

Accountant, administrator.

Born at Winnipeg on 30 December 1950, son of Ukrainian immigrants Peter Sochasky (1917-2009) and Katherine Sochasky (1924-2011), he grew up in East Kildonan. After graduating from St. John's High School, he held several accounting positions while attending night school to get a Certified Management Accountant degree. He was Director of Finance (and later acting Executive Director) of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and Chief Executive Officer of the Manitoba Centennial Centre Corporation. He retired in 2012. He died on 7 February 2025, survived by his wife Cathy and their two children.
