Lawyer, civil servant.

Born at Boissevain on 5 May 1893, second of three sons of stonemason George Grey Richardson (1858-1941) and Mary Anne “Minnie” Cooper (1869-1950), brother of Bert Verschoyle Richardson, he grew up in Morden where he attended public and high schools. He studied law and, in May 1919, was called to the Manitoba Bar. He worked as a solicitor at Elphinstone (1921-1935). He moved to Brandon in 1948 and resided there until the mid-1960s, where he was Registrar at the Brandon Land Titles Office (1950-1960). He retired in 1966.

He was married twice, first on 6 October 1920 to Ida Jane Carter (1898-1935) at Winnipeg and they had three children: Alvin Earl “Al” Richardson (1922-2011), Doris Audrey Richardson (1925-2010, wife of William Lohr), and Norma Richardson (1928-2010, wife of John Klassen). On 2 July 1939, he married Jessie Annie Elinor Tully (1911-2012) at Strathclair. He was a close friend of Ralph Durham Bird and accompanied him on fishing and hunting trips, and on a safari to southern Africa. He was an avid photographer.

He died at Victoria, British Columbia on 2 December 1971.
