Memorable Manitobans: William John Prochuk (1909-1983)Educator. Born at Zhoda, he received BA and MEd degrees from the University of Manitoba. He taught at Poplar Park School (1936-1940), and served as the Principal of Pine River School (1940-1945), Fisher Branch School (1945-1952), and Stony Mountain School (1952-1955). He then joined the teaching staff of the Winnipeg School Division, retiring in 1973. He was instrumental in setting up Ukrainian-language correspondence courses at the University of Manitoba.
