Memorable Manitobans: Marie Jeanne Pauline McDougall “Jean” Perreault (1908-1995)

Educator.

Born at St. Vital on 23 November 1908, one of nine children of Florestine Grouette (1885-1952) and Joseph Arthur McDougall (1877-1934), she grew up at the family home at 1670 Pembina Highway. On 10 January 1934, she married Adrien Perreault (c1907-1986) at Fort Garry and together had five children: Irene Perreault (c1935-1972), Eveline Perreault (1936-2018, wife of Ted Polanski), Roland Arthur Perrault (1937-2020), Raymond Joseph Perreault (1939-2011), and Doreen Perreault (wife of Mr. Ness). She worked as an educator, teaching at St. Francois Xavier West School (1941-1942), Parkdale School (1943), Donald McLeod School (1943-1944, Principal), and West St. Paul School (1945-1949). She died at Foyer Valade, 450 River Road, at Winnipeg on 18 June 1995 and was buried in the Green Acres Memorial Gardens.
