Born at Somerset, England on 8 May 1874, he came to Canada in 1906 and worked as a general contractor at Winnipeg. He and wife Ellen Palmer (1874-1973) had no children. He was an active member of the Odd Fellows (Grand Patriarch 1936, Grand Representative 1937) and Masons (St. John’s Chapter No. 14). He died at his Winnipeg home, 336 Machray Avenue, on 13 March 1943 and was buried in the St. John’s Cathedral Cemetery.
