Educator.
Born at Fraserwood on 22 March 1924, son of Nicholas “Nick” Oberton [Obertaniec] (1886-1970) and Michalina “Lena” Mishtak [Misztak] (1889-1980), he had a 40-year teaching career prior to retirement in 1986. He taught at Riding Mountain School (1947-1948, Principal), Newcombe School (1949-1951), Glenmoor School (1952-1953, 1954-1956, Principal 1956-1957), and Leeland School (1953-1954), Libau West School (1958-1960, Principal), and Margaret Underhill School (1972-1977, Vice-Principal). He and his wife Nellie married around 1954 and together had six children. He died at the Grace Hospital on 7 November 2004 and his cremains were interred in the Transcona Cemetery.
