Corporate executive.
Born at Winnipeg, one of four children of Axel Martin Norell (1880-1958) and Maria Kristina Larson (1884-1968), brother-in-law of William Gordon David Ritchie, he grew up on a farm near Balmoral and attended Balmoral School. He received a BA degree from the University of Manitoba then worked as a radio-television writer and public relations officer, taking a year off to accompany his wife to France where he worked at a school in Rueil-Malmaison. In 1973, he joined the head office of Manitoba Pool Elevators, serving as its Corporate Secretary (1985-1992) until early retirement. On 9 May 1953, he married Donna Marion Young at Greenwood United Church. They had no children. He died at the Health Sciences Centre on 3 September 2009.
